Symphony Tower

Architectural Narrative

The Symphony Tower, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects for Imtiaz Developments, is located in Dubai’s new Horizon district, situated between the Meydan Racecourse and the Ras Al Khor Nature Reserve wetlands. This location is a short distance from Downtown Dubai and the Dubai Design District, with planned service from the Dubai Metro extension.

The 42-storey tower draws inspiration from the distinctive geometries of Al Sadu and Talli—traditional Emirati weaving and embroidery. The tower’s exoskeleton defines an interlaced façade that provides a variety of outdoor living areas for each apartment, creating a distinctive rhythm and texture that emulates the intricate craftsmanship of the traditional embroidery.

The precision-engineered exoskeleton serves both structural and environmental functions, notably reducing solar gain by shading the façades and sheltering the outdoor spaces for residents. Photovoltaics charge batteries to illuminate the three-dimensional lattice after sunset, expressing a gentle amber glow that echoes the metallic threads in the celebrated embroidery.
The project emphasizes sustainability through features such as modular construction, the use of recycled steel, low-carbon concrete, and responsibly sourced finishes to decrease embodied carbon. Water consumption will be reduced via greywater recycling, low-flow fixtures, and drought-tolerant landscaping.

Visual Narrative

“The Symphony by Imtiaz,” stands as a “living sculpture” in Dubai’s Meydan Horizon.

Its visual narrative is defined by a rhythmic, illuminated lattice exoskeleton inspired by traditional Emirati weaving, creating a dynamic play of light and shadow.

This fluid exterior features organic curves that soften the skyline, balancing futuristic design with cultural heritage. Inside, the aesthetic shifts to a serene, gallery-like calm. Open-plan spaces utilize soft, earthy tones and continuous lines that mimic the building’s exterior flow. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the interiors with light, completing a harmonious sanctuary of modern sophistication.
